Promises Received

on February 28, 2011
“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36

Reflecting this morning on my own history.  Childhood memories; good and painful.  What led to the choosing to begin caring for the fatherless, the orphan, the abused?  A conglomeration of all circumstances make up a heart full of hopes and dreams for those who are suffering.  Often times of wondering how life would have been different had childhood been a little more safe, more stable, more secure.  Who then would I be?  Thinking much this morning about persevering.  I became a foster parent the first time in 1991.  Still just a very young woman at the time, but had a knowing to some extent the Lord had a plan for my life.  Many mistakes made in the course of loving children belonging to others, many lessons learned, many trials stumbled through, many tears cried.  But on the flip-side much joy in knowing that but if for a moment one might be saved from a day, a week, a month, a year of pain.  But were they really? Children love through unconditional eyes. They want to be with their families even if it means things are not so pleasant at times.  What they need is stability and firm foundation.  A place to be forever.

In 2003 Under HIS Wings CC, Inc.  was founded on those premises.  In hopes to provide a child;many children with the stability and consistency deserved them just for being children.  The Lord has blessed the desire He placed in my heart in so many ways over the years.  In compassion He never leaves or forsakes.  In tenderness He chastises and teaches.  In mercy He provides and sustains.  He gives grace in times of hardship and misunderstanding.  He stands as Husband during times of attack, as King when orders are given.  He is our Father when we need wisdom and counsel, our Way Maker when it seems impossible to go on another day.  So much more is He.  Its been 8 years Lord since the call to do more came.  Four adoptions always with an obedient and willing heart.  Again eight is the number of New Beginnings.  Its a new season.  We are in your will…

James 1:12, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

This life is the test.  Eternal life the promise.  I do believe that there is a now faith in trial which produces now promises.  Seeing by the spirit and declaring out loud what God has planned and yet walking in the natural makes one look amazingly foolish to others at time.  But appearances aren’t as they seem and the Beholder of all things beautiful loves this kind of faith, this boldness, this perseverance.  What is next Lord?  I will declare it too.

I see a home housing 12 and not six with room to grow and others who have come alongside to help.  I see You and I standing before multitudes multiplying the fish and bread.  I see us speaking to hundreds about the love of the Father.  I do believe that in this time and place I shall see the glory of the Lord for these little ones.  In this land where lack shows no mercy to those who are desperate.  Where children live among dump heaps scrounging for a single bite of food.  I will see Your glory Lord and administer Justice by Your divine hand.  And the promises received will bring forth others under our care-Yours and mine-who will rise in the future and persevere in seeing the orphan find their stability in Your love.

Renew my vision daily Lord.  With a heart full of child like faith I wait on the promise.
