…all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139:16b

A journey of a lifetime begins with one step toward a destined end.  If ever you have wondered why you are where you are at this very moment, take a look back to your first steps; your roots.  My beginning was nothing spectacular, nothing to boast in, or anything to really even mention.  But, wait. Wasn’t it?  It brought me to the here and now, with you and I traveling along in this journey of life together.  I’m grateful to have you here with me at this appointed time.  Come and walk this part of your journey alongside of me for a while, and we will see where it all fits into God’s plan.

Every person’s journey through life is as different as their fingerprints.  Each one is special, and meaningful.  Before time began each step planned out, each path directed.  So, here I am a single Mom of six, mother to many, and founder of Under His Wings CC, Inc.  What?  Wait a minute.  How can that be right?  Do you mean to tell me God planned for this to happen?  Let me start again. What I mean to say is God in His sovereignty has a planned end for His children.  To each He has given tools; gifts, talents, callings, and opportunities which lead to a life of love and abundance in Him.  Mixed with the choices we freely make concerning all of these, and circumstances beyond our control, we come yet still to an expected end.  I have hearkened to the call and have determined in my own heart to follow His leading and obey His will for my life.  In the process of doing so, many times it meant giving up prosperous jobs, friends, and esteem from family and neighbors.  Sometimes it means taking accusation and misunderstanding and loving through it.  In Luke 1:38 Mary’s response to God’s Word through the angel Gabriel was, “I am the Lord’s servant, may it be to me as you have said.”  She didn’t argue with him, but in sincere humility accepted the call.  Mary was blessed and highly favored among women.  However, in her time, people were stoned for what was about to happen to her, yet she trusted the Word of the Lord. I will trust the Lord as Mary did, and pray for you to do the same as you seek out and follow His Word over your life. My prayer for you is that our Father would help us as women to focus on the greater one who is with us and who lives inside us. We choose to focus on the one reason why we can do whatever He asks of us. We can focus on Christ and His unlimited ability within us.

One day I chose to become a foster parent.  At the time my understanding of what was involved was limited.

It was 1991.  I had been thinking over my childhood.  It was hard in so many ways.  I will get into the details of it later, but for now what you need to know, is the way we lived growing up turned my thoughts toward rescuing a child, maybe a few, from at least one, if not more, days of terror.  My heart was young and never was there a considering of the costs of parenting children who did not belong to me, yet there was a driving force within me crying out for someone to save the children from their pain.  A force that would later bring me too through a process of healing.  From there the Lord deposited dreams, visions, and many words of wisdom, forming my daily thoughts about His love for children and my heart for being a mother.  Through each child whom God has sent, the Lord has shown me a piece of  my inner self, how my thoughts and perceptions have been formed, His desires for me, and what the enemy meant for my harm.  But most importantly, how He has and is working it out for my good and the good of others.

Here we are, you and I.  I can only imagine why you are reading this book at this point in your life.  You have a longing for fostering or adopting, you have a child with special needs, you are wondering about community living, maybe you want to know how to start a non-profit organization, or maybe you are searching for healing in your own wounded soul.  Perhaps, like me, you are a single Mom, seeking to fulfill the call of God on your life and need help getting started.  Whatever the reason, I’m glad you’re here seeking His hand.  I pray your comfort is found in knowing God has an amazing plan for your life…Who but Him would have thought it?  Let us journey on!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13
